Cape Forchu Lighthouse

Cape Forchu Lighthouse: A Welcoming Beacon

Crisp salty air, pounding ocean surf and breathtaking scenery await you at the Cape Forchu Lightstation.

The leisurely country drive to the Light station takes you through magnificent ocean side scenery and coastal communities to experience a part of Nova Scotia that is seacoast, fog, beaches, fishing vessels, working fishing villages and shanties, unpredictable water and tides and breathtaking sunsets. The Cape Forchu lighthouse is located on a headland at the south western tip of Nova Scotia, is the light for the town of Yarmouth and its harbour. The structure rests 37.5 meters (125 ft.) above sea level, is nestled into jagged rocks and offers a breath-taking natural vista.

It is possible to take a guided tour of the lighthouse tower, climbing 77 steps into the lantern room.  There are only 5 participants per tour, so reservations are recommended.

Location

Perched on an outcrop of volcanic rocks, Cape Forchu Lighthouse is at the mouth of Yarmouth Harbour approximately 10 minutes from the Town of Yarmouth.  There is plenty of parking at the site.
