Sandy Lane Vacation Rentals Cookie Policy
I’m sure you have all heard about cookies by now. These are not the delicious cookies that my children love, but rather the electronic cookies that are on every web site. I’m not sure who came up with the term cookies for this, but, I am sure that the Cookie Monster would be pretty disappointed if he bit into one of these!
Anyway, we too have cookies built into our web site. They are the run-of-the-mill, standard cookies most sites use to improve the performance and functionality of the website. By using this site, you have given consent to our use of cookies.
What Are Cookies?
Just in case you not aware of this type of inedible cookie, here is a brief explanation in non-technical terms.
Cookies are small files that websites put on your computer to store information about your preferences. Apparently Cookies improve our browsing experience by enabling sites to remember our preferences. They are also used to enable you to automatically access a site without having to sign in each time. There are, however, some cookies that may put your privacy at risk by tracking the web sites that you visit.
As with the real world, electronic cookies come in different flavours: essential, first-party, third-party, performance, functionality, analytics, customisation and advertising.
Sandy Lane’s Cookie Jar
Our cookie jar is pretty small. Since we do not run ads on our site, we don’t have any fancy advertising cookies. Because you don’t need to log in to an account, we do not have any persistent cookies and there are no customisation cookies. We also don’t have any cookies that track your browsing history.
We do have a couple of third-party cookies. The Google Analytics cookie allows us to understand the performance of our web site. It measures and analyses the number of visits the web site receives in a period of time, what pages are viewed, and the average length of time spent on the site. We use this information to improve the website and provide more information about our cottages and our area.
If you want to know more about Google Analytics you can visit their site here. If you want details about Google Analytics’ Privacy Policy, you can see that here.
We also have social media buttons. These are visible on the site to allow you to share content via social networks, including Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Google Plus.
These platforms do place cookies on our site that allows them to collect information about your browsing. If you are concerned about this and want to learn more about the privacy policies and cookie management for these sites, please follow the links below.
