Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse

The World Famous Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse.

An iconic lighthouse in a picture perfect setting. A must visit for many.

Certainly, Nova Scotia’s, and perhaps Canada’s most famous Lighthouse, Peggy’s Cove lighthouse was erected in 1868 to mark the eastern entrance to St. Margaret’s Bay. Peggy’s Cove is a small picturesque fishing village that surrounds a narrow ocean inlet, which provides safe haven for boats during the Atlantic’s rough weather. The lighthouse built on the large smooth wave washed granite rocks is the crowning feature of this beautiful Atlantic cove. You can walk over the huge boulders to enjoy the splendid view in all directions. There is a Post Office inside the lower level of the lighthouse where visitors are able to mail their post cards. There is a restaurant and gift shop for meals and souvenirs. This is a very popular tourist destination. We have found that it is best to visit the lighthouse either early in the morning before the tour buses or late in the day after the crowds have disbursed.
