Sandy Point Beach

Sandy Point Beach: Our local beach

Sandy Point Beach: Our local beach

Sandy Point Beach is my favourite stress reliever!  It is always a treat to spend a few moments breathing in the salt air and feeling the sand between my toes.

Sandy Point Beach is tidal so it grows in size as the tide ebbs. At low tide a glistening stretch of golden sand links the Sandy Point Lighthouse to the shoreline. The shallow waters, rock pools and proximity to the Community Centre (for snacks and washrooms) makes this a very popular beach with local families.  Us included.  When our children were were younger – it is always their first choice. For them there were sand castles to build, seashells, starfish and other treasures to be found. And the fact that it is an 8-minute drive from the center of Shelburne makes it very convenient.

I can’t begin to count the number of hours I have spent on the beach at Sandy Point.  Since it is so close to Shelburne, it has been a family favourite for years.  I love it because it is so beautiful.  It’s such a calm place to be at the end of a busy day.  I often take a drive out there just to breathe in the fresh sea air and take a moment to relax.

Not only is this a wonderful beach for children playing or for adults relaxing, it is also a fantastic beach for a wedding.  In fact, I have now attended two weddings at the beach.  The most recent in 2019 for our lovely friends Ken and Nadine.
