Astor Theatre: Performing Arts In Liverpool
Liverpool’s Astor Theatre is Nova Scotia’s oldest centre for the performing arts. Built in 1902, the theatre was originally known as the Liverpool Opera House and hosted touring and local shows until 1917 when silent films were introduced. In 1930, talking pictures were shown for the first time.
My first experience with the Astor Theatre was sometime around 2012, when I went to see a theatrical performance of The Full Monty. Since then, I’ve been often, to plays, movies and most recently tribute bands.
The Astor Theatre hosts summer camps for Children and the Liverpool International Film Festival bi-annually.
