Acadian Historic Village
The Acadian Historic Village takes visitors back in time to experience traditional Acadian culture. Museum animators and guides dressed in period costume populate the village and provide a glimpse into the Acadian lifestyle. There are a couple of houses, where women demonstrate rug hooking and quilting. Fishermen at the boat shop build dories, lobster-fishing traps and mend fishing nets. There is a farm, a fish shop and a post office.
The location Lower West Pubnico is spectacular. The village is spread out over a 17 acre point that overlooks Pubnico Harbour and the Atlantic Ocean.
There is a restaurant at the museum with a limited meu featuring soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts and famous traditional Acadian dish, Rappie Pie made with chicken and potatoes.
