Red Head Retreat is remote enough to make you feel as though you "got away" and close enough to historic attractions and pristine beaches to guarantee a terrific stay rain or shine. I chose this cottage for my ability to bring my pets and for its proximity to the shore line. I would come back in a heart beat. The open concept and decor are modern and homey. The beds and furniture are comfortable. There are snowshoe hares, deer and even porcupines to keep you entertained. I was warned about ticks which are many this year. I simply made sure my cats had the proper treatments and kept an eye on their fur. We had no mishaps. Minor thoughts of improvement would be a fan in the master bedroom, additional outdoor chairs and a supply of fresh chopped wood. Everything else was wonderful. Thank you to Sandy Lane for your attention to detail and to the owner for sharing their cottage. Great location from which to explore the South Shore. We had a great stay at Harbour Tide House.

Can't say enough about how wonderful this property is! Family Friendly, well equipped, comfy beds, and one of the best beaches around. Our boys (aged 6 & 9) made good use of all the beach toys provided, flew kites, played soccer, and barely touched their iPods once. Sanderling Beach House is a real gem and our week in Nova Scotia was amazing! We can't wait to go back and would highly recomend it to anyone. Can't remember a vacation where we were less ready or willing to pack up and go home! This is a fabulous cottage and a truly beautiful setting. We have been so comfortable and happy here. Although we have lived a total of more than 60 years in Nova Scotia, we had never truly appreciated the beauty and variety of this part of the South Shore before. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely summer home.

DescriptionThis newly built cabin combines the efficiency of modern design with the charm and character of a traditional log home. Constructed from large honey brown logs, and featuring an open-concept kitchen, living / dining room and two bedrooms, the atmosphere is both spacious and warm. Both bedrooms have patio doors that open up onto the deck. The bedrooms have queen size beds; log bedside tables and plenty of closet space. The cabin comes equipped with a four-piece bath.At the heart of this Nova Scotia log home has a floor to ceiling field stone, wood-burning fireplace. Two sets of sliding patio doors lead out from the living room onto a large wooden deck that spans the length and breadth of the cabin and takes full advantage of its beautiful oceanfront view. Patio furniture and propane BBQ complete the picture and make for comfortable outdoor living. Walk down from the deck, soak in the hot tub and roast marshmallows over the open fire in the fire pit.
