Guest Testimonials We enjoyed our stay at the rustic and quaint Sea Star cottage in July. There was more than enough room for our family of five. Importantly, the Wi-Fi worked well for our kids :) Having laundry and all the amenities of a regular home made our stay comfortable. The location is very quiet, and the grounds around the home are almost park-like, with mature apple trees and a well-kept lawn. There is a nice walk down the pathway through the back field to the rocky shoreline. The night skies were full of bright stars; I was able to photograph the Milky Way with ease.
Carter's Beach is an easy 10-minute walk down the road, but the area is also central to other beautiful beaches, with shopping (and a great skatepark) in Liverpool, only 15 minutes' drive away. Locally we had a good take-out dinner from the Seascape restaurant just down the road.
Overall our stay was very enjoyable, and I would not hesitate to recommend it as a perfect vacation home for a family. A bit of heaven in Nova Scotia
"Orchard Point" is a total escape from the rapid pace of life today. Beauty, privacy, and tranquility describe the experience. The home is tastefully appointed, clean, and very comfortable. We found everything we needed. Every sunrise and sunset made us reach for our cameras. We enjoyed exploring the pristine coast. Another benefit was the relative proximity of Shelburne with excellent places to eat and a full supermarket. Overall, we had one of the most relaxing vacations ever and would surely go back.
Just finished one fantastic week with great weather! It seems this cottage is immune to fog. Carter's Beach was visited almost daily. Our 2 year old loved the cold water. Had a great meal at the Quarter Deck Restaurant! The cottage was very comfortable, clean and bright. We'd highly recommend it. Daily trips to surrounding towns were great; Shelburne, Lunenburg, Liverpool. Lot's of small museums to see. The Rossignol Cultural Center was quirky but surprisingly satisfiying. Fabulous Memories!

It's the third time I've stayed in this snug little house on its very own bay. Ragged Island Retreat is like a ship on the sandy, tidal lake -- a short kayak trip from the crashing ocean beach at Hemeons Head, and along a strip of land protected by the Nature Conservancy. I could watch the changing waters, and birds overhead, all day. Cool mists for evening walks and sun-heated swimming in the deep salt water pools of the "lake" are both amazing. This area is so beautiful -- rural and wild, yet a short drive from the town of Lockeport and the beautiful harbor of Shelburne, and the long sand beach at Louis Head. |
Payment ScheduleReservation DepositA reservation deposit of $500 CDN and the Damage Deposit Waive fee of $55 CDN is required to secure your booking. Your booking is not confirmed until this deposit has been received. Final PaymentThe balance of the rental fee is due 90 days prior to your arrival. Upon final payment we will email you a confirmation letter with a detailed information package that includes driving directions and information on where to find the key. Arrival is at your convenience after 4:00 p.m.Last Minute ReservationsFull payment plus the $55 Damage Deposit Waiver fee is required at the time of booking for resevations made within 90 days of arrival.TaxesAll short term vacation rental bookings are subject to 15% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)Method of PaymentPayment can be made by e-mail transfer, bank wire or personal cheque (in Canadian funds). We do not accept credit card payments. And, unfortunately, we cannot accept money orders or cheques in any other currency. Please note there is a $25.00 charge for NSF cheques.Damage Deposit Waiver FeeWe require a $55 non-refundable Damage Deposit Waiver fee for all reservations in lieu of charging an additional $500 security deposit fee to the property rental rate. This privilege is offered to you as our way of saying thank you for your business. The waiver covers all minor accidental damage or breakage up to $500.Coverage does not cover loss, theft, extraordinary cleaning charges, damage resulting from negligence or willful or wanton conduct or damage by a pet (in those properties that allow pets) or loosing the key. Guests must notify the Sandy Lane Enterprises Ltd. at once of any damage during occupancy and submit a written report or the Damage Deposit Waiver is void. For reservations of which the rental amount is over $2500 weekly, an additional refundable security deposit may be required. Cancellation PolicyShould you wish to cancel your Nova Scotia vacation rental reservation; your cancellation notice must be made in writing - either by fax, email or mail.
