Guest Testimonials

.. and relax! The beach house of dreams.
If you want to have a one mile sandy beach virtually to oneself then this is the beach house for you. Once the rough track from the road has been negotiated the peace and remoteness of Sanderling Beach House comes into it’s own. Don't stay if you want TV and Wi-Fi; this is a place to relax, stroll down your own boardwalk to the shore, paddle in the tea-brown waters where the sea mixes with Sable river estuary, beach comb for sand dollars, listen to the siffling of the piping plovers. Comfortable beds and sofas enable relaxation inside the house too; put on some coffee, pull up an Adirondack chair and watch the cormorants fishing offshore. There is good food and drink in Shelburne and Lockeport and lovely places to visit along the South Shore. Quite pricy for just two but would be good value if filled with a young family.

 Perfect House, Perfect Place
Our second time at Sanderling Beach House, and we couldn't dream for a better place. We love Nova Scotia for the untouched nature, and unspoiled beaches, lakes, and forest, but high standard accommodations are some times hard to find. Sanderling beach house is the best place we could have: charming, on the edge of the Ocean, tasteful, functional, very well appointed, clean. A wonderful feeling of home pervades the house. The kitchen is fully equipped, ready for baking, cooking, BBQing, etc. The 3 bedrooms are large, with comfy beds. The beach is long with fine silver sand, and hardly anybody is ever around. Our children and ourselves spent wonderful days playing and swimming (yes, swimming!). The night skies are among the most beautiful and starry in the whole planet! UNESCO's Starlight Foundation declared the area part of North America's first Starlight Preserve, on top of the designation as a protected biosphere!

What a unique houes and beautiful location!  We had the beach all to ourselves and even though it has been very foggy, we enjoyed it very much. We had some nice days also; tooled around a bit and saw and explored some great places. The area is so beautiful around here. We would love to come back to Francis Louis House and explore some more!

We had a fantastic time. Such a relaxing atmosphere and inspiring architecture.  Sand Hills Park was a great beach... Nice warm water.   Thank you for sharing your cottage!

Description

Newly renovated and tastefully furnished, Harbour Tide House is warm and inviting. Painted in muted tones and decorated with nautical accents, the house captures the essence of East Coast living. It's ideal for couples or families who want to explore, sight-see and then come home to a well-designed, peaceful retreat.

The ground floor has a spacious kitchen, a large living room, separate dining room, cozy reading nook, queen size bedroom and a three piece bathroom (with shower). Upstairs are two additional bedrooms: the large Master bedroom has a king size bed and the smaller bedroom has a single bed and a play pen for youngsters.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need; including a dishwasher, a pot for cooking lobsters and a fish steamer. The living room has a comfortable seating arrangement, wood burning fireplace, and a smart TV (Apple) for movie watching. The dining room is large enough for seafood feasts and family gatherings. The reading nook is a delightful bonus. With a chaise lounge, it is the perfect spot to escape for an afternoon nap. There are laundry facilities in the basement.

Outside, a large garden with a private deck with patio furniture allows space for reflecting, watching the colourful fishing boats go by, reading and cooking on the propane barbeque.

Location

Harbour Tide House is located in the quiet and quaint fishing village of Central Port Mouton, approximately 10 km south of the historic town of Liverpool. The cottage is situated on an oceanfront property with views of and direct access to marvellous Port Mouton Bay. The bay is tidal and there is direct access to the water from the cottage for launching kayaks at high and low tide.

Carters Beach - probably the most beautiful white sandy beach along the South Shore - is about 2 minute drive or a leisurely 20-minute walk away. Other beaches in the area include Summerville Beach; Hunts Point Beach; South West Port Mouton Beach; and the Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct.

Once the privateering capital of Nova Scotia, Liverpool is known for its colourful main street, boutique shopping, museums, galleries, restaurants, and grocery shops.
