Guest Testimonials

 Perfect House, Perfect Place
Our second time at Sanderling Beach House, and we couldn't dream for a better place. We love Nova Scotia for the untouched nature, and unspoiled beaches, lakes, and forest, but high standard accommodations are some times hard to find. Sanderling beach house is the best place we could have: charming, on the edge of the Ocean, tasteful, functional, very well appointed, clean. A wonderful feeling of home pervades the house. The kitchen is fully equipped, ready for baking, cooking, BBQing, etc. The 3 bedrooms are large, with comfy beds. The beach is long with fine silver sand, and hardly anybody is ever around. Our children and ourselves spent wonderful days playing and swimming (yes, swimming!). The night skies are among the most beautiful and starry in the whole planet! UNESCO's Starlight Foundation declared the area part of North America's first Starlight Preserve, on top of the designation as a protected biosphere!

Can't remember a vacation where we were less ready or willing to pack up and go home!  This is a fabulous cottage and a truly beautiful setting.  We have been so comfortable and happy here.  Although we have lived a total of more than 60 years in Nova Scotia, we had never truly appreciated the beauty and variety of this part of the South Shore before.  Thank you so much for sharing your lovely summer home.

Incredible waterfront gem!!!
I cannot begin to tell you how FABULOUS our experience has been!!! We rented the Castaways Ocean Lodge and Helen facilitated EVERY step of the booking!!! The cottage and views are breathtaking and the amenities make you feel like you're walking into your own place! Everyone who stays here clearly is very respectful and tidy as the entire place is clean and in wonderful condition! Simply second to none....thank you soooo much for such an amazing experience filled with such special moments!!! Helen, you're a star!

Description

In the spring of 1783, 3000 United Empire Loyalists escaped the American Revolution and settled on the shores of Shelburne Harbour. With the promise of free land, tools and provisions, and the protection of the British Crown, four hundred families associated to form a town of Shelburne.

Founders Days Festival celebrates our history and heritage.  Events include a Regimental Re-Enactment, Eighteenth Century Dances, canoe jousting and Dory races; a Yacht Regatta, a "Parade of Lights" and a Coastal Oldies Car Show. There are fireworks, face painting and of course, lots of toe tapping music.
