Guest Testimonials

A bit of heaven in Nova Scotia
"Orchard Point" is a total escape from the rapid pace of life today. Beauty, privacy, and tranquility describe the experience. The home is tastefully appointed, clean, and very comfortable. We found everything we needed. Every sunrise and sunset made us reach for our cameras. We enjoyed exploring the pristine coast. Another benefit was the relative proximity of Shelburne with excellent places to eat and a full supermarket. Overall, we had one of the most relaxing vacations ever and would surely go back.

What a charming, well-appointed little home is the cottage.  I have been so comfortable and content is this historic and lovely setting.  It will be very difficult to drive away.  Shelburne, especially history-laden is a delight for "land-lubbers" seeking fresh seafood, good (super) accommodations and sightseeing - beaches, museums, period costumes, pleasant faces and helpful info everywhere!  Farewell Nova Scotia, and we'll not forget what we've learned about the folks who make this province great, nor those who went before to build its harbour towns.

Sapphire Cottage had a great view of the water and lovely decor, our daughter really enjoyed the daybed.

What a wonderful location and landscape to quiet the soul. The water, tides, pines, sunsets, wild life (including deck squirrel) are perfect. Scallops at Digby are everything they said they would be. Lobster at Rudders in Yarmouth was remembered days after the first bite. Charlotte's Lane in Shelburne was 2 thumbs way up! We are sorry we could not stay longer. Thanks!

Cape Forchu Lighthouse
A little lighthouse for little people

Description

The leisurely country drive to the Lightstation takes you through magnificent ocean side scenery and coastal communities to experience a part of Nova Scotia that is seacoast, fog, beaches, fishing vessels, working fishing villages and shanties, unpredictable water and tides and breathtaking sunsets.

The Cape Forchu lighthouse is located on a headland at the south western tip of Nova Scotia, is the light for the town of Yarmouth and its harbour. The structure rests 37.5 meters (125 ft.) above sea level, is nestled into jagged rocks and offers a breath-taking natural vista.

In 2012, Cape Forchu Lighthouse was voted the best public space in Canada(!) in a competition held by the Canadian Institute of Planners.

Location

Perched on an outcrop of volcanic rocks, Cape Forchu Lighthouse is at the mouth of Yarmouth Harbour approximately 10 minutes from the Town of Yarmouth.
