We have had a very enjoyable and relaxing time in Nova Scotia. We explored numerous beaches; ate at Charlotte Lane; got out on the water; poked around Shelburne; watched a meteor shower and spied deer as they crept across the lawn. Our cottage was well equipped for entertaining and cooking and especially relaxing! In fact, many hours were spent simply reading on the porch. We even managed to forget which day it was for a while!
We enjoyed our stay at the rustic and quaint Sea Star cottage in July. There was more than enough room for our family of five. Importantly, the Wi-Fi worked well for our kids :) Having laundry and all the amenities of a regular home made our stay comfortable. The location is very quiet, and the grounds around the home are almost park-like, with mature apple trees and a well-kept lawn. There is a nice walk down the pathway through the back field to the rocky shoreline. The night skies were full of bright stars; I was able to photograph the Milky Way with ease.
Carter's Beach is an easy 10-minute walk down the road, but the area is also central to other beautiful beaches, with shopping (and a great skatepark) in Liverpool, only 15 minutes' drive away. Locally we had a good take-out dinner from the Seascape restaurant just down the road.
Overall our stay was very enjoyable, and I would not hesitate to recommend it as a perfect vacation home for a family. Our first day here we open the curtains to be greeted by the view of a Great Blue Heron standing among the rocks of your little beach area! For our 20th anniversary what we were looking for was a place that offered quiet an seclusion away from very busy lives! Castaway Ocean Lodge was just the ticket! Quiet relaxing days of no particular schedule made this an anniversary to remember!
