We travelled with another couple to spend a week last June in this beautiful spot. The ferry from Portland was a ‘mini cruise’ and lots of fun. Landing at Yarmouth, it was a short hour’s drive to Orchard Point. The house, itself, is pristinely clean, and well decorated with a warm, antique feel, but very modern appointments throughout. With two large sunny bedrooms, and two bathrooms, the house is perfect for traveling with friends, couples, or a family with children. The house is situated at the edge of the ocean, on a point with water views from all sides. Sunrise and sunset were spectacular, and even the one rainy day we had was special. You can do as much, or as little as you’d like during a stay. The location is perfect for day trips to Nova Scotia Highlights, including The Bay of Fundy, Halifax, Digby, Gran Pre National Historic Site, numerous Vineyards (We had lunch at Luckett Vineyard overlooking the Bay of Fundy, where everyone gets to make a free call to anywhere from the old red phone booth —spectacular!), and of course, the famed ‘Lighthouse Route’. Only minutes away is the sweet and well preserved loyalist town of Shelburne, with its Saturday farmer’s market, picturesque docks and iconic yellow Dories, still made by master dory makers. We enjoyed nice meals at a number of restaurants in Shelburne, along with a lovely harbor cruise, where we were treated to a steak and lobster dinner while touring the coast. On a few days, we just enjoyed spending the day at the house — kayaking, beach combing, grilling, and of course, having drinks by the giant fire pit at night. Overall, my husband and I agree that our time at Orchard Point was one of the happiest and most relaxing weeks we’ve had in years. A very special place that we hope to get back to soon!
We fell in love with the ocean and the family of seals. This is a perfect spot to get away and relax. Despite the lengthy drive, we highly recommend going whale watching on Brier Island in the Zodiacs. Francis Louis House is a very cozy and comfortable cottage. We would love to retire here. Thank you for letting us stay here!
Really great location, perfect pristine beach. Beach Heaven is a nice home to relax and visit the region.
Our week at the cottage was a wonderful peaceful experience, with an abundance of wildlife, fabulous views. Deer wandering into the garden being a highlight for all.

Well stocked and great to also have laundry facilities, Sonia, August 2021 Great spot for family and pets! Short walk down main road to private beach! Lots of beaches, lots of choices. Mary, July 2021 Great Stay -- Great cottage in a beautiful peaceful location. The cottage is comfortable, well equipped and has a great view of the ocean. Our only disappointment was that there was no bbq, other than that, it was wonderful and we'd definitely go back! L. Ayre, Nova Scotia, 2020 Wonderful! Wow, what a wonderful time we had! This beautiful cottage was exactly what we needed. The views are incredible and the amenities are so convenient. We stayed here for a couple of weeks in September. The weather was lovely and the surrounding environment was peaceful. We spent a lot of our time lounging on the main deck, observing the ocean and the wildlife. At nighttime the second level deck is an incredible place to view the stars. We played sports on the surrounding lawn and took walks (and swam!) at the nearby beaches. Great place for bike riding and jogging as there is little to no traffic. We were able to cook every meal at the cottage with a very well equipped kitchen. We especially loved having access to the extensive library both up and downstairs-lots of classics! Overall a fantastic place to reset and take it slow. C. Harlow, Nova Scotia, 2020 Peaceful south shore retreat with great views. Loved staying at Bright View. It is on a dirt road with only a couple of other houses on the same road, so very peaceful! Great open floor plan, bay window with view of the water. Highly recommended. J. Maloof, California September 2019 Our stay was absolutely amazing at this fabulous cottage. Beautiful house, beautiful beaches and total relaxation. Thanks Helen! Natasha, Chelsea, Canada, 2019 My Happy Place -- Fantastic beach, nice neighbors, Bright View Cottage is a great place to unwind and play board games with the kids and star gaze on the balcony with a glass of wine at night!
