Bright and sunny ,Sanderling Beach House is everything you would imagine a Nova Scotia beach house to be.
This 2,000 sq ft. architecturally designed house reflects the character and styling of a New England Cape Cod home, while incorporating modern elements like open concept living spaces and floor to ceiling windows. Immediately upon entering, you notice the expansive windows, which seem to bring the outdoors into this home. The open concept design includes living room, dining room and a dream kitchen with all new appliances. A utility room, the master bedroom and en-suite 3-piece bathroom make up the rest of the downstairs floor plan. There are two bedrooms upstairs along with a second 4-piece bathroom. A second floor sitting room with a view so spectacular that it is impossible to concentrate on anything else!
Sanderling Beach house has three bedrooms. All with queen size beds, plenty of closet space and picture perfect views of the beach and ocean beyond. There are two bathrooms featuring ocean inspired glass mosaic tiles and ergonomic fixtures. Luxurious towels are provided.
Outside a two-sided wrap-around deck with a screened gazebo extends the living space. A boardwalk traverses the sand dunes and leads down the beach. So whether you are dining alfresco or simply relaxing, it is hard to escape the sense of peace and tranquility.

Location
Surrounded on three sides by sand and sea, Sanderling Beach House is located at the very end of Louis Head beach. Louis Head Beach is a 3 kilometer (2 miles) white sandy beach with a shallow grade and gently rolling waves. The shallow ocean waters, warmed by the sun, make it an excellent beach for swimming or body surfing.
In May and June Piping Plover return to nest and rear their young. Volunteers from Bird Studies Canada flag the nests and people are encourage to avoid the nesting areas.. To protect this endangered species, nests are marked and people avoid the designated nesting areas. Dogs must be leashed.
Just 15 minutes by car, Lockeport is the closest town to this cottage. Lockeport has a couple of lovely beaches. Crescent Beach, a stunning scimitar of white sand is approximately 1.5 km or 1 mile long.
The charming and historic town of Shelburne is 35 minutes from Sanderling Beach House. Shelburne offers fine dining, theatre, live music, museums and shopping. Halifax is two hours, the UNESCO town of Lunenburg, Peggy’s Cove and Whale watching in Digby are all pleasant day trips.

Long weekend and long-term rentals are subject to availability.

“A Beautiful View”
We had a wonderful time at Sanderling Beach – house this year. There is such a beautiful view. The water is perfect for swimming and the beach is perfect for long walks. We had a lot of fun playing with all of the games in the game cupboard and enjoyed every one of them. We loved to watch the seals and view the moon on the horizon. Thank you!
“Will Definately Book This Cottage Again”
Can’t say enough about this wonderful cottage! Family friendly, well equipped, comfy beds, and one of the best beaches around! Shelburne, Liverpool & Lunenburg were all great little trips to take with the kids – Charlotte Lane in Shelburne; and the Quarterdeck Grill in Summerville were delicious. Boxing Rock Brewery was a great find too – super friendly people and awesome beer. Wish we didn’t have to leave, but will definately book this cottage again.
“Enjoyed Just Hanging Out Here”
What a lovely home! We felt spoiled here, from the comfortable sofa to the well-laid out kitchen to the fabulous views! The weather did not cooperate but we made the best of it & chose to enjoy an authentic misty beach holiday in N.S. The kids loved the sand toys & playing in the waves. I was lucky enough to happen upon a pair of piping plovers near the water’s edge. No sign of any seals by the mouth of the river, but we kept looking just in case! Mostly though we enjoyed just hanging out here – baking cookies, playing games & exploring the beach. The kids were skeptical about being screen-free, but amazed themselves with how much fun they could have without wifi. That may have been the best thing about this place! Thank you for sharing this wonderful home.
