At the very end of East Ragged Island Road begins the half-mile driveway to Black Point Cottage; a gracious home on its own private 70 acre oceanfront peninsula.

Black Point Cottage has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Vintage pieces and colourful eclectic furnishings bring a casual style and retro panache to the cottage.

Designed to take full advantage of its extraordinary location, this retreat offers unparalleled ocean views of Gull Rock Lighthouse and Lockeport Harbour. On stormy days, expansive windows allow you to take in the natural beauty from the comfort of home. While, on calm days a fresh breeze blows though the cottage encouraging you to get out and explore or enjoy the scenery from upper and lower decks.

The main floor features a spacious open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen. The comfortable living room has plenty of room for everyone with two large sofas and an overstuffed chair. There are board games and cards as well as a TV (no satellite) with VHS player, and plenty of movies to choose from. Listen to music on the stereo (with a variety of CD’s provided), or create your own on the cottage piano.

The bright kitchen opens onto a dining area with seating for eight and more ocean views. The cottage is well equipped with everything you will need for a week by the ocean including a propane BBQ grill and that all important pot for cooking lobsters at home.

Black Point Cottage sleeps 8 people in four spacious bedrooms. On the main floor there are two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed. While the other has two twin beds.  Also downstairs is a full 4-piece bathroom. Up the spiral staircase is the second floor where there is the sizable master bedroom. Large windows offers ocean views across the bay to the west and out to sea. Enjoy your morning tea or coffee from the private deck at treetop level. There’s another bedroom with two twin beds upstairs, along with a full bath. The laundry room is across the hall, and beach towels are at the ready in the linen closet.

Location

On a secluded 70 acre ocean front lot at the very end of the Ragged Island Peninsula, Black Point Cottage offers sweeping vistas of the Atlantic dotted with rugged islands, sea birds flying overhead and fishing vessels passing by. With more than two miles of coastline to explore, Black Point Cottage allows you to immerse yourself in the Maritime experience. Spend a day beach combing along your own shoreline discovering sandy spots while keeping an eye out for seals sunbathing on the rocks. Dine outdoors in the lovely garden setting while overlooking one of the two fresh water ponds. Catch the evening sun and enjoy an aperitif on the southerly exposure deck.

It is about a 15 minute drive to the closest town of Lockeport is the closest town. Shelburne is a half hour drive.  The nearest beaches are Louis Head Beach and Lockeport’s Crescent Beach.

Black Point Cottage is available from May to October.
Long weekend rentals are subject to availability.
All bookings must be received 3 days in advance of arrival – no same-day bookings.
For the comfort of our guests, this is a non-smoking property.
Pets are permitted. There is a $50 pet cleaning fee.
