The Ocean front at Willow Cove Cottage
DescriptionWillow Cove Cottage is a charming and bright two-story traditional country home. The house was built around 1910 and has recently been carefully renovated to function as year-round vacation home. The interior combines traditional country atmosphere with a tasteful modern décor. The main floor features a living room, dining room, reading corner, kitchen and 3-piece bath. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a small eat-in area. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms – two with double beds and a third with a single bed and a second 3-piece bath. Bring your favourite CDs, since the VCR, TV and CD player are there for your entertainment. Outside, a large private garden and deck allow space for reflecting, watching the world go by, reading and cooking on the charcoal barbeque. Outdoor enthusiasts will particularly enjoy their stay at Willow Cove Cottage. Bring your kayak or join one of the local tour operators for an excursion along the rugged shores and secluded beaches of Port Mouton Bay. And don’t forget your binoculars! You may want to observe species of shorebirds, seals, and even the occasional sea turtle, porpoise or whale. From the Cottage you can conveniently visit the inland portion of Kejimkujik National Park and Queen County’s famous ocean parks: the spectacular Kejimkujik Seaside Park, the Thomas Raddall and the White Point Provincial Park, and the Port Joli Federal Bird Sanctuary. You are a bird watcher? Why not come to Willow Cove Cottage after the busy summer season? A steady procession of shorebirds migrate through the area from late July to October and the coastal waters attract a spectacular variety of loons, grebes, sea ducks and ocean birds from early fall until the following spring. LocationWillow Cove Cottage is located in the quiet and quaint fishing village of Port Mouton, approximately 10 km south of the historic town of Liverpool. The cottage is situated on a 2-acre oceanfront property with views of and direct access to marvellous Port Mouton Bay. Carter's Beach – probably the most beautiful white sandy beach along the South Shore – is only about a 10-15 minute walk away.By 1604, Samuel de Champlain, the famous explorer and later founder of Quebec City, had anchored in this protected Bay to chart the Nova Scotia coastline. Nowadays, fishing boats mingle with occasional yachts, sailboats, and kayaks in Port Mouton Harbour. The Bay’s waters are crystal clear and offer fine anchorages sheltered by Spectacle, Mink and Port Mouton Islands. The picturesque town of Liverpool, once the privateering capital of Nova Scotia is full of stately, meticulously renovated sea merchants’ and captains’ residences from times long gone. Liverpool is the home of the County’s historic museum and provides opportunities for fine dining, grocery shopping and some browsing through galleries and bookshops. AmenitiesRates
