Great cottage, sunny, quiet, tranquility. Quietest cottage we have ever stayed at. Went down Blanche Rd. to the end (about 10 min. from the cottage) and walked the beach and rocks at low tide. Saw a colony of seals barking on rocks. Don't miss Cape Forchu outside of Yarmouth, Outstanding. Compliments on keeping the natural setting
WOW - this was the first word from our mouths as we drove down the driveway and saw this beautiful place! We have had a wonderfully peaceful and serene week here at Castaway Ocean Lodge and the hot tub has been a god send and has enabled us to be outside enjoying the veiw even through the wind and the rain. A fabulous haven that will live long in our memories!

DescriptionLocated in the small close-knit, coastal village of Daniel’s Head, Bird’s I View Cottage offers peace, serenity and a warm and friendly spirit.Newly renovated, the cottage is bright and cheerful with an open concept, fully equipped kitchen, living room and dining area. There are two bedrooms both with queen size beds, a 4-piece bathroom and laundry facilities. Making the most of its seaside setting, the cottage is decorated with maritime pieces. Soothing paint colours, hard wood floors and lots of windows give the house a sunny disposition. A private deck with a restful view of a tidal wetland alive with ducks, geese and other waterfowl invites you to linger over morning coffee. It’s a short 2-minute walk to beautiful sand dunes and miles of white sandy beaches. Head over to the Daniel’s Head wharf with its fleet of colourful cape islander boats for a yarn with a local fisherman. Should you want to leave the island, Barrington with its shopping and restaurants is just across the causeway. The historic town of Shelburne is 50 minutes to the east. The Acadian Village in Pubnico is about 40 minutes to the west; while the ferry terminal in Yarmouth is just over an hour away. Halifax International Airport is 3 hours drive. LocationBird’s I View Cottage is located on the eastern shores of Cape Sable Island … Canada’s most southerly point. The Island has been designated and internationally recognized as an “Important Birding Area”. With its unique climate, abundant tidal marshes and location along the north-south flight path, Cape Sable Island is an essential habitat for numerous waterfowl including the Atlantic Brant and the endangered Piping Plover. In March and April, tens of thousands of Brant take to the air in a nightly spectacle leaving their feeding grounds at the local salt water marshes to spend the night bobbing in the Atlantic to the east of the island.
