The location and house are even better in person. The house was very clean when we arrived and had everything we needed. It is perfectly located and close to many beaches. We were thrilled by how private the property was. We really enjoyed morning coffees on the deck looking at the water. We had our 2 year old daughter with us and the house was very well equipped for her. That was a lovely surprise. We would highly recommend staying here and look forward to going back!
What a wonderful getaway. It was a perfect week. Our family enjoyed the beach and all the extra parks so close. Thank you for a great stay.
We've had the best week here! We had less than a 2 hour drive here but we seem so far away from home. No stress. Relaxed, easy days. Between this house and Carter's Beach we barely went anywhere. We spent our mornings down on the rocks by the ocean. We saw 2 otters our first day here. We read and drank coffee outside in the various places that have chairs. We ate all our meals here and felt right at home. It feels like our cottage. We will definitely be back. Thank you!
We enjoyed our stay very much at the Castaway Ocean Lodge with a beautiful vista. The perfect place for an adirondack family to unwind for a week. This was our first visit to Nova Scotia. We viewed an eagle soaring! A perfect place for Kayaks and hot tub.Thank you Helen and John.

LockeportDescriptionWith a population of under seven hundred people, Lockeport is a small town in a spectacular setting. Settled in the 1700's, the town relies on the fishing industry for its livelihood. Numerous wharves provide plenty of photographic opportunities of working boats as well as a chance to talk to some of the hardy folk that fish on them. The long stretch of white sand that forms the outer edge of Lockeport's causeway is better known as Crescent Beach. At one end of the beach is the Crescent Beach Centre. With a tourist information center, snack bar, washrooms and gift shop, the Centre is a welcome pit stop during a full day on this lively kid-friendly beach. Crescent Beach Centre organizes a number of different activities: Beach parties, Sand Scultpure contests, and an annual Sea Derby. For the history buff - Nova Scotia's only Registered Historic Streetscape is worth investigating. Made up of five houses built by descendants of Jonathan Locke between 1836 and 1876, the houses offer an interesting cross section of historical architecture with excellent examples of Colonial, Georgian and Victorian styles. A walking-tour guidebook is available at the Little School Museum. The museum has in its collection a variety of artifacts relating to early life in the community, a replica of an early school room and a marine room. If you are coming with children and don't want to spend the whole day on the beach, there is a great playground in the centre of town. AddressLockeport, Nova ScotiaGoogle Map |
